From February, the teams from law firms PwC Legal and TGS Baltic will join. Following the merger, the TGS Baltic team will grow to 80 people, thus forming one of the largest law firms in Estonia.
The joint decision by PwC and PwC Legal executives to separate the law firm from the PwC network has led to a notable increase in demand for litigation services, which, due to PwC’s large client base, has exacerbated potential conflicts of interest with other areas of PwC Estonia. To avoid such risks, PwC will in future focus on providing consultancy legal services to support its core practice areas, but will exit the litigation sector and therefore also cease trading as a full-service law firm.
“The departure of the law firm will not impact PwC’s core services, which are audit, corporate consultancy, transactional, tax, accounting and ESG services. Our relationships with the specialists of the PwC law firm joining TGS Baltic continue to be very good and we will definitely cooperate in the future,” commented Teet Tender, managing partner of PwC Estonia.
