Oleksandr Kovalenko commented on Russia’s night missile attack on Ukraine on TV 24, calling among other things the unlikely version that the Russian missile attack occurred in response to the sinking of the large amphibious ship Novocherkask and the destruction of four Russian warplanes.
The interview went smoothly until the presenter asked the expert: “How do you comment on the information that our Russian Tu-22M shot down with a Bayraktar over the Kursk region?”
The interviewee is visibly confused by this question and says he doesn’t understand the question well. When the reporter repeats the question, Kovalenko explains to the reporter that he has no information about this incident and does not believe that Bayraktar can shoot down the Tu-22M strategic bomber.

Bayraktar TB2 is a relatively simple and cheap attack drone that flies up to 9 km altitude and has a top speed of 222 km/h. The Tu-22M is a Soviet/Russian strategic bomber in service since 1972. This aircraft has a speed of over 2,000 km/h and a flight altitude of 13 km. During the Soviet era, such aircraft were based at Tartu’s Raadi airport.
